NEWCASTLE pair Nick Flanagan and Nathan Green will wait until the US PGA Tour is finished on November 9 before making a decision to play in the NSW Open Championship at The Vintage.

The NSW Open starts on November 13 and the Novocastrians are likely to be still in the US in the week leading up to the Hunter Valley event chasing crucial cash to work their way up the money list.

Green has all but secured his card for next year with earnings of $US912,867 ($1.3 million) putting him 104th on the money list. The top 125 get their card for next year.

The 33-year-old missed the cut at the Shriners Hospital Open, won by American Marc Turnesa at 25 under, over the weekend after rounds of 71 and 77.

Flanagan made the cut after starting with 64 and 74, but dropped to a share of 67th after closing rounds of 68 and 76.

He won $US8405 to lift himself from 164th to 163rd on the money list.

"We have sent invitations to Nick and Nathan, but we haven't heard anything back yet," NSW Open media co-ordinator Sharilyn Smoke said.

Victorian Jarrod Lyle returned from the US PGA Tour to play at The Vintage last year but plans to skip this year's event in favour of rest after a gruelling schedule on the Nationwide Tour.

Lyle is second on the secondary tour's money list and is guaranteed to make the top 25 and return to the main US tour for another crack next year.
