THE Lake Macquarie Games Cycling Kermesse scheduled for November 9 has been cancelled because of lack of entries.

Although a total of $6000 in prizemoney was on offer for men's and women's races, only 38 entries had been received when officials decided to call a halt.

Race promoter Ross Hayter said he was disappointed with the response from cyclists.

"Maybe it was too late in the road season, I don't know, but the prizemoney was certainly there," Hayter said.

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Oenone Wood and fellow Australian representative Olivia Gollan had entered.
