BRODY Pitham is delighted he has been selected as a skipper in the Country side to play City at Wentworthville Leagues Club on November 8 and 9.

The 21-year-old East Cessnock player has only moved into the back end in the past two seasons, but he is relishing the role.

"I love playing skipper now, especially with good blokes in front," Pitham said.

"The pressure keeps you on your toes."

Pitham had some experience skipping in the Taren Point Premier League side last season and has filled that position since returning to East Cessnock this year.

"Up until this year I have always been picked as a lead, but I was given a run at third in the state side and I really enjoyed the experience, and now I am over the moon that I have been selected to play skipper for Country," Pitham said. "I am really looking forward to the experience of playing against the powerful City side, and hopefully I can play my part in bringing the title back to the country."

Pitham will be playing in his fifth City-Country series.

He was a member of the Country side which were successful on his debut, and for the past two years he has played in the winning City sides.

Pitham will have clubmates Nathan Allen and Mick Cronin playing lead and second respectively, while Nathan Dawson (Kurri Kurri) will be his third.

State players Jason Pietraszek (Soldiers Point), Jason Stokes (Raymond Terrace) and Terry Antram (Nelson Bay) have been selected as lead, second and third respectively for Gerard Beath (Cowra), while Simon Mitchell (Maitland City) will play second for Tom Ellem (Towradgi Park).
